Job DescriptionJob DescriptionYAI's Tarrytown Day Services Program empowers over 100 adults with varying disabilities. The people we support have a wide variety of interests and talents. The overall emphasis of the program is on independence ,community inclusion , communication, and socialization. We have a wide range of volunteer activities both in house and in the community ranging from volunteering in the community to recreational outings. The program is set up by core rooms with 9 people per group with individuals who have similar skills, interests, and needs. There are several specialty groups for people on the autism spectrum, seniors, and people who have more challenging behavioral needs. Several individuals require 1:1 supports. Each individual is assessed to determine the best activities to meet their needs.

As a Day Habilitation staff member, you will provide support to a group of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will foster increased socialization, skill building, community safety, and overall independence skills while assisting them in participating in various volunteer sites in our local community.

Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm

Compensation Range: $15.50/hourly -- $15.50/Hourly

Key Responsibilities

* Adhering to policies, procedures and regulations

* Using effective communication skills & time management skills

* Being a member of a highly effective team (Teamwork within the circle of support)

* Completing mandatory trainings based on the program and position (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving, etc.), as well as applying skills

* Meeting and demonstrating OPWDD Core Competencies

* Ensuring health, wellness and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision of the people we support

* Demonstrating a willingness to assist people with ADLs

* Transporting and escorting people we support on recreational activities, medical appointments, home visits, etc.

* Building Positive relationships

* Maintaining a therapeutic environment through a variety of methods: Personal Outcome Measures, Person Centered Thinking, Informed Decision Making

* Ensuring person centered plans are implemented

* Completing documentation to ensure compliance and billing

* Using foundational Teaching skills (EMOE, Task analysis, essential skills, supports and modifications, etc.

Education and Experience

* A High School Diploma or GED is required; some college is a plus

* Work or life experience within the intellectual/developmental disabilities field is a plus

* Ability to support people with intellectual/developmental disabilities

* Basic written and verbal communication * Basic computer knowledge

* Valid Driver's License may be required depending upon the position

* Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions
