MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to return the city's blighted and vacant properties to productive use. We utilize a variety of Sales programs to make homeownership and land purchases accessible to Detroiters. Plus, we take our commitment to revitalization one step further with our Compliance and Nuisance Abatement programs, requiring renovation and occupancy to improve neighborhoods, eliminate blight, and combat real estate speculation. The Detroit Land Bank Authority works directly with individual buyers, as well as Community Partner organizations and developers for projects big and small.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and manage compelling content on all DLBA’s social media platforms including establishing new presence on emerging platforms.
  • Create and review organic social and video content, as well as social campaigns, ensuring traffic and growth targets are met.
  • Transform key data into actionable insights for all content stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and make recommendations on poor performing content and social-channel engagement.
  • Provide ongoing collaboration/support to the Assistant Director of Communications & Engagement by identifying opportunities for community engagement and storytelling.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the Marketing Manager on special projects, content calendar, and editorial calendar.
  • Manage, develop and oversee social media strategy, content and calendar (daily/weekly)
  • Provide editorial and commercial teams with strategic and tactical support across platforms.
  • Respond to inbound social media traffic.
  • Generate monthly statistical reports with social analytics and trends to track growth.
  • Measure web traffic and monitor SEO.
  • Report on online reviews and feedback.
  • Increase social media following.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, media, creative writing, community development preferred, or 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
  • Ability to work under tight time pressures, prioritize workflow, problem solve and react quickly to changing business needs and demands, all in a fast-paced and high growth business environment
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, strategy, and tools
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, as well as public speaking ability
  • Ability to respond effectively to constituent inquiries or complaints both in writing and orally
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff
  • Ability to interpret complex concepts covering the wide variety of programming performed by the DLBA
  • Outstanding organizational abilities

  • The highest level of moral character, honesty, and integrity

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Detroit resident or a Detroit background with a deep knowledge of community needs
  • Familiar with Detroit government and communities
  • Experience in journalism, social media, community development, real estate, or land use planning
  • Experience with not-for-profit or governmental program design, management systems, fund development and community change strategies
