We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to add to our CPA firm. You must be familiar with full cycle accounting and understand all the processes and documents necessary to produce financial statements for a reporting period. Other job duties include reconciling bank and credit card statements, tracking fixed assets, assisting with payroll, note balance reconciliation, and preparing tax returns. Our ideal candidate has at least five years of professional accounting experience and is proficient with Microsoft Excel and other accounting software, including but not limited to, QuickBooks desktop, QuickBooks online, and ProSeries or Lacerte tax software.

 

Staff Accountant Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated external financial statements by analyzing documentation and information provided by client
  • Assist with payroll processing, payroll tax deposits, as well as quarterly and year end reporting requirements
  • Analyze and verify information by creating spreadsheet reports
  • Prepare general ledger and adjusting journal entries
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures
  • Communicate requests effectively with clients via phone or email contact as is required to complete the project

 

Staff Accountant Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Proficient with QuickBooks, ProSeries/Lacerte, PDF, and Microsoft Excel
  • Vendor and customer reconciliations experience
  • Strict attention to detail, highly organized, and efficient
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
