Who You Are:

A self-motivated bioinformatician with experience in next-generation sequencing, systems biology, and/or multi-omics. You are eager to help build a digital workspace with a direct impact on human health, pharmaceutical research, and Life Sciences companies. The successful candidate will play an important role in building up data analysis capabilities, ranging from biomarker discovery to visualization and interpretation of results. You will join exceptional software developers, engineers, and scientists in a fast-paced, open, innovative, and fun environment.  He/She will report to the Chief Science Officer but will work closely with other company leaders to ensure company success.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Compare and implement state of the art methods in NGS (e.g., WGS, WES, WTS, etc.) pipelines;
  • Develop algorithms with technology development teams to transform cutting-edge science into novel software applications;
  • Analyze sequencing data and work with our scientists to answer specific biological questions;
  • Provide technical guidance and customer support in the design and analysis of experiments in R
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and manuscripts detailing key methodologies and results;
  • Troubleshoot and maintain bioinformatics pipelines.

 

Qualifications

  • D. degree with 2+ years (or MS degree with 5+ years) of working experience in the industry in the field of systems biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, or equivalent;
  • Solid computational skills and a deep understanding of NGS data and its analysis;
  • Familiarity with git version-control workflows;
  • Extensive experience in NGS, systems biology and analysis of large-scale ‘OMICS datasets;
  • Proficient in either R or Python;
  • Prior experience working on a scalable, high-volume, web-based application;
  • Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA;
  • Experience with Docker containers and immutable infrastructures;
  • Experience working in a cloud-based environment (preferably AWS);
  • Excellent personal and communication skills, including solid presentation and writing skills;
  • Must be self-motivated, a quick learner, dedicated to achieving excellence, and love to take on new challenges.
