Assistant to Patient Care and Medical Records Coordinator

Garden State Pain & Orthopedic is on the cutting edge of technology in pain management and orthopedic care and has assembled a team of highly-trained physicians with expertise across diverse pain conditions and treatment modalities.The practice was founded in 1994 with the goal of providing compassionate and comprehensive treatment to people struggling with acute and chronic pain and orthopedic injuries. Over the years, the practice has expanded to include more than 30 employees and currently has five convenient locations in Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, West Orange, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

This is a full time position to work alongside our Patient Care Coordinator and Medical Records Coordinator.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Minimum of (2) years experience in the medical field 

Must be able to speak, read and write in both English and Spanish

Ability to type on a keyboard and multitask

Proficient in using an EMR system, E-Clinical Works "ECW" experience preferred

Experience with Excel

Strong organizational and communication skills

Patience and a kind disposition, as you will be speaking directly with referral sources and our patients

Team player who works well with others

Duties and Responsibilities:

Works to assist both our Patient Care Coordinator and Medical Records Coordinator with daily tasks which include:

  •   Scheduling new patient appointments and follow up appointments for incoming referrals
  •   Coordinating care and speaking directly with our referral sources (other physicians, marketers, attorneys, paralegals, patient care coordinators, etc.)
  •   Obtaining necessary insurance information, demographics, medical records and uploading them to patient's charts or sending to referral sources
  •   Maintaining communication with referral sources - updating them on patient progress and sending documents
  •   Organizing and fulfilling medical record requests 
  •   Completing various paperwork for patients including disability paperwork
