Summary  

As an Accounts Payable Supervisor with a specific focus on corporate overhead, operational indirect, and corporate card spend, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the accounts payable function within the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments for materials, supplies, equipment, and labor services. You will collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and human resources teams to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and enforce compliance with company policies. Additionally, you will lead a team of accounts payable specialists, drive process improvements, and contribute to cost efficiency and financial control. As a key financial leader, you will play a crucial role in managing vendor relationships, handling vendor reconciliations, and implementing strategies to enhance financial control and efficiency. 

Essential Functions 

Accounts Payable Management: 

  • Oversee the accounts payable process related to corporate overhead, operational indirect, and corporate card spend, ensuring timely and accurate recording of vendor invoices and payments. 

  • Monitor accounts payable transactions to ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and accounting principles. 

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, drive resolution of vendor account reconciliations, and adherence to standard and/or contracted payment terms. 

  • Collaborate with sourcing and finance teams to optimize supplier relationships and control expenses. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline the accounts payable process, reduce manual interventions, and enhance efficiency. 

  • Implement process enhancements to optimize workflows and improve financial control. 

Compliance and Policy Enforcement: 

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting principles, and corporate policies related to accounts payable. 

  • Enforce company policies and procedures for invoicing, payment processing, and expense management. 

Reporting and Analysis: 

  • Prepare accounts payable reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review, providing insights on payment trends and financial performance. 

  • Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities and track key metrics related to accounts payable. 

Team Leadership and Development: 

  • Supervise and mentor the accounts payable team, providing guidance and support for their professional growth. 

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to ensure high-quality work output. 

Budgeting and Forecasting: 

  • Provide inputs for budgeting and forecasting activities related to accounts payable expenses and cash flow management. 

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred. Operational experience to be considered. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA) is a plus. 

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable processing and management, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity. 

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of finance professionals. 

  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable principles, invoice processing, payment workflows, and corporate card programs. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. 

  • Proficiency in using accounting software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. 

  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance requirements related to accounts payable.
