The Software System Integration Engineer is responsible for integrating code and hardware changes into commercial sensing and communication products, ensuring functionality, quality, and reliability within Indyme’s retail technology stack. This role involves collaborating with various teams including QA, manufacturing, sales, and customers to develop and enhance engineering workflows, implement automated testing routines, and translate needs into developable features.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Integrate code and hardware changes into current and upcoming commercial sensing and communication products.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to develop automated testing routines for physical devices including digital communication hubs, call buttons, and smart cases.
  • Develop, enhance, and accelerate engineering workflows to improve product development efficiency.
  • Utilize the latest tools, including LLM-based coding agents, to develop unit and regression tests, queries, reports, and supporting documentation for the entire product portfolio.
  • Partner with sales and select customers to translate needs and requirements into developable features.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science required for this role.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Python for development, automation, and use of AI agents.
  • Experience with continuous integration and related automated test systems.
  • Knowledge of front-end frameworks like React is a plus.
  • Experience in Agile software development environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of being proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.

This role is located in San Diego, CA. It is not a remote role. We are looking for local candidates or candidates who are willing to relocate themselves to San Diego for this role.
