Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to administer and supervise the Automation and Process Control group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering project management, supervisory and managerial duties, and experience with Emerson Ovation, AVEVA Wonderware, or WDPF DCS technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and supervise the Automation and Process Control group
  • Operate and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Department Information Network (DIN), Facility Information Network (FIN), and Process Information Network (PIN)
  • Review designs and standardization of control systems within and between facilities
  • Evaluate and oversee the design, development, implementation, and testing of systems related to area of responsibility
  • Develop and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Prepare reports and correspondence
  • Interview, train, evaluate, and rate subordinates
Requirements:
  • Four years of full-time professional industrial engineering project management experience with supervisory and managerial duties
  • Registration as a Professional Control Systems Engineer with the State of California
  • Experience with Emerson Ovation, AVEVA Wonderware, or WDPF DCS technologies, application hardware/software
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA, and PC technologies

As a City of San Diego employee, you will be eligible to participate in a benefit program including holidays, vacations, savings and retirement plans, health programs, and other benefits.

Eligible City employees initially hired or assuming office on or after July 10, 2021, with the exception of Police Recruits participating in the City's Police Academy, will participate in the City's Defined Benefit Plan administered by the San Diego City Employees' Retirement System (SDCERS).

Benefits may change due to employer-employee contract negotiations.
