Patient Relation Representative

We are seeking a full time Patient Relation Representative (medical receptionist) to join our work family
In this position, you will (not an all inclusive task list):
- Answer multi line phone system.
- Schedule patients for a multitude of appointment types as well as procedures.
- Triage patient phone calls and/or messages to the correct department or staff.
- Process patient payments for copays, deductibles and outstanding balances.
- Triage patient cases and portal communications.
- Maintain billing and payment records.
- Register new patients and update established patient demographics.
- May answer basic billing questions. Training will be provided.
- Perform secretarial functions as necessary or as directed.
- Utilize IMS Meditab AllergyEHR for all position duties.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Data entry.
- Other tasks as assigned and within scope of practice.
- Opportunity to advance into a more hands on medical position based on performance and desire (such as Medical Assistant).
We are open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm. We do have an occasional Friday staff meeting. Our Patient Relations Representatives (PRR) do not work weekends, federal holidays or Fridays. Work hours are 8:30 am to 6:15 pm or when the last patient is discharged. We do not offer health benefits as we are a very small practice of only 10 individuals, but we do offer annual evaluations, PTO and holiday pay. The Patient Relation Representative is led by the lead PRR and Practice Manager.
An excellent candidate will possess the following skills:
- Professional demeanor and attitude.
- Excellent attention to details.
- Ability to perform in a high stress environment.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office platforms.
- Be able to answer a multi line phone system.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Previous experience in a medical atmosphere/work environment.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to stay calm and level-headed.
- Prefers teamwork but able to work efficiently independently.
- Flexible in nature and willing to learn new skills and tasks.
We are willing to train the right candidate, however, the following qualifications are required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Be able to sit for longer periods of time.
- Be able to lift up to 20 pounds, if needed.
- Typing skills are a must.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and other governing agencies.
