Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Residential Life Coordinator Lead is to create and maintain a supportive communal living environment among Harvest Home's residents. The RLC Lead works closely with our team to coordinate a healthy residential living environment (the home) to support resident program plans. The primary responsibilities are to maintain the staff schedule of the site, provide onsite supervision and leadership to the Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) and Overnight Assistants (OA), and aid with daily evening activities in the following areas: chores, meals, policy enforcement, classes, and independent and community-living skills. Provide on-site support and guidance to volunteer positions as needed. 

Position Schedule: 

Monday through Friday 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (40 hours per week) - Alternative schedule one day a week (12-8pm) and occasional staffing of other days/times/hours as needed. Additionally, RLC Leads are required to be on call by phone two weekends a month from 7:00am-3:00pm. 

 

Essential Duties 

Include but are not limited to: 

  • Create and model a joyful, innovative, empowered, welcoming, structured, and safe home environment which inspires engagement, follow through, and ownership. 
  • Provide weekend on-call support at assigned home, including providing coverage as needed. 
  • Manage a residential team of 4-5 shift team members including weekly check-ins, providing feedback and performance evaluation, and overseeing hiring, training, disciplinary action, etc.  
  • Manage household structure including weekly household grocery orders and keeping inventory of household supplies, chore cards, and activities & schedules (Chores, classes, meals, activities, etc.) and overall cleanliness of the home. 
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of Home Gathering and Girls Night events. 
  • Connect with class teachers, volunteers, and donors coming into the home for groups, classes, events, workshops, service opportunities, etc. Update calendar(s) as needed. 
  • Model, uphold and adhere to organizational and staff values, processes, and standards. 
  • Maintains a positive, strengths-based and culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, therapeutic environment that is in keeping with the mission and values of Harvest Home. 
  • Engages in crisis prevention and crisis intervention to de-escalate incidents of potential harm, aggression, etc. and may also coordinate emergency responses as needed. 
  • Support and guide residents collectively in order to promote an environment / relationship of accountability based on trust and respect that aligns with Harvest Homes Restorative Accountability process (documentation, follow-up, and resolution).  
  • Address concerns with residents collaboratively, directly and in a timely manner and provides all necessary documentation of resident behavior and interventions attempted. 
  • Assists with the transition of new residents into the residential living environment through facilitating their move-in and orientation, initiating hospitality and community integration efforts. 
  • Establish and cultivate respectful and appropriate relationships with residents of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Provide important and ongoing communication across all Harvest Home teams and departments using the appropriate communication channels.  

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience in social service field (non-profits, government, missions, etc.) 
  • Experience supervising staff in nonprofit or other business setting 
  • Crisis-intervention and/or de-escalation training, skills, and/or experience 
  • High EQ in order to foster respective and appropriate relationships with residents in order to serve our population well including an understanding of and sensitivity to concerning homelessness, women’s health, pregnancy, parenting, trauma, mental health, etc. 
  • Strong Communication (open, honest, humble) and Organizational Skills.  
  • Excellent problem solving skills and comfortable leading and executing in the day-to-day 
  • Acceptance of organization ministry standards (to be provided after application) 
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office, Email (Google or Outlook), Chat Tool (ex: Slack), etc.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with many of the following: high-risk populations, women, homelessness, pregnancy, infancy, victims of trauma, mental health, substance use, domestic violence, poverty, TAY, Foster care, DCFS, etc. in social welfare, social work, counseling, hospitality, and related fields  
  • Prior experience working in a shelter, group home, and/or residential treatment program.

  • CA Driver’s License and Personal Vehicle for occasional resident transportation 
  • Criminal background check 
  • TB clearance and documentation 
  • Compliance with COVID safety requirements
