FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours: Monday-Friday from either 9 am-5 pm or 10 am-6 pm.

Salary:  The baseline salary for this position is $65,000; additional compensation is negotiable based on experience.

 

About Us: African Communities Together (ACT) is an organization of African immigrants fighting for civil rights, opportunity, and a better life for our families here in the U.S. and worldwide. ACT empowers African immigrants to integrate socially, get ahead economically, and engage civically. We develop our members as grassroots leaders who take action to make social change. Since its founding, ACT has supported thousands of African immigrants with direct services, trained hundreds of new leaders, and led successful federal, state, and local policy campaigns that have impacted hundreds of thousands of immigrants. ACT’s African immigrant membership comes from a diverse range of nationalities, cultures, and languages, is religiously diverse, and is predominantly working-class and low-income. We have offices in New York City and the Washington, D.C. metro area.

 

Overview: We recently launched our Healthcare Support Career Accelerator (HSCA)  program. Through this initiative, we aim to assist African immigrants in healthcare support roles in overcoming career stagnation and gaining access to more equitable job opportunities within the healthcare industry. This role will be instrumental in supporting the expansion and scaling of our Healthcare Support Career Accelerator (HSCA) model across our Chapter locations in the long term.

 

Position Description:

ACT is seeking a proactive and dynamic Program Coordinator to support the implementation of our workforce program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the workforce program, including recruitment, case management, logistics, and supporting program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. This role will work with programmatic teams to advance the goals of the organization's workforce program. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and a passion for building innovative programs. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

Program management:

  • Oversee day-to-day program tasks, ensuring milestones are met on time and tracking overall program progress.
  • Present program updates and outcomes to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with program staff and partners to ensure the successful implementation of the workforce programs and initiatives.
 

Training Coordination:

  • Lead the screening and enrollment of program applicants into the appropriate training phases of the program
  • Coordinate logistics for program activities, including scheduling training sessions and workshops, arranging venues, and facilitating communication with participants.
  • Create and deploy pre- and post-activity surveys to assess effectiveness and inform future improvements.
 

Case management:

  • Conduct initial assessments of program participants to determine needs, training objectives, and potential challenges.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with program participants to offer personalized guidance, monitor their progress and address concerns promptly.
  • Facilitate external referrals and connect program participants to relevant resources.
  • Advocate for participants' needs and interests within the program and the community.
 

External Partnerships

  • Maintain and cultivate partnerships with external stakeholders including Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), training providers, and funders.
  • Leverage community partnerships to promote the workforce programs and initiatives
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or other related fields.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in coordinating capacity-building training and workshops in nonprofit settings.  Previous experience in  workforce development and/or adult education is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in partnership management, including building and maintaining relationships with immigrant communities, CBOs, and funders to support program implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deploy surveys to track, monitor, and analyze program outputs and outcomes, applying insights to enhance future program iterations.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English; proficiency in French, Arabic, or other widely spoken African languages is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, with. Previous experience working with immigrant communities being strongly preferred is highly desirable.
  • Capable of synthesizing and articulating plans, goals, and outcomes through clear and organized oral, written, and digital presentations.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • A self-starter and proactive with the ability to conceptualize and implement new initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, CRM systems, and project management platforms.
  • A passion for ACT’s mission and demonstrated commitment to community-centered immigrant justice.
