Job Description: The Safety Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety protocols on our commercial construction plumbing projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience in the construction industry, particularly in plumbing. You will work closely with site supervisors, project managers, and workers to ensure a safe work environment, prevent accidents, and promote a culture of safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures specific to commercial plumbing construction.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Train and educate employees on safety protocols, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain and update safety records, including OSHA logs, training records, and inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety into all phases of construction planning and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions to keep the team informed and engaged in safety practices.
  • Monitor and manage the use of safety equipment, ensuring that all tools and equipment meet safety standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety by encouraging proactive behavior and recognizing safe practices among employees.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role within the construction industry, preferably having some experience in the plumbing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Certification in safety management, such as OSHA 30-hour, CHST, or CSP, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and the specific safety challenges related to plumbing work.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to effectively convey safety information to a diverse workforce.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in identifying and addressing safety issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple teams across different job sites.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
