Equipment Engineer (Critical Infrastructure)
Pay: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour
Contract: 6-Month Contract
Location: Remote (Available in most US markets)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer specializing in Critical Infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with common systems engineering standards (RBOC, AT&T, or a major telecommunications provider). This role involves designing, specifying, and maintaining critical infrastructure systems, including AC and DC power equipment, HVAC systems, grounding systems, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Specification: Design and specify materials for AC and DC power equipment, including commercial AC power building entries, switchboards, transformers, generators, UPS backup systems, rectifiers, power distribution, batteries, grounding systems, fire control systems, HVAC, and other materials needed for installation.
  • Maintenance: Maintain central office records, including updates to floor plans and equipment drawings, reflecting installations, and completing capacity management reports for all AC and DC power equipment.
  • Vendor Management: Manage contracted maintenance vendors for repairs and service, including invoicing and quoted PR submittals.
  • Best Practices Development: Develop best operating practices and standards, and write Method of Procedures (MOPs) for all CI equipment repairs and augments.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved MOPs, and evaluate vendor/contractor field service reports describing all activities performed on the CI equipment.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve operational deficiencies discovered on Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and contractor PMs.
  • Support: Assist Field Operations and NCC/NOC technicians with operations support issues requiring vendor or manufacturer involvement.
  • Reliability Reports: Develop reliability reports to identify areas of concern that could lead to future problems.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a Subject Matter Expert on CI equipment issues, advising on technical solutions.
  • Project Management: Manage all CI augment projects (CapEx/OpEx) to address break/fix repairs.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure all environmental compliance and permitting are completed annually.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain CI equipment inventory accuracy and data integrity in SF and M6.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications, focusing on Critical Infrastructure (CI) equipment, including AC power distribution, grounding, fire systems, generators, ATS/MTS, UPS, DC power plant systems, and cooling systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SalesForce, and database applications.
  • Project Management: Proven project management experience is required.
