Quality Engineers in this role possess specialized training in quality assurance and a broad knowledge of the tools and techniques used to measure and assure product quality. This includes expertise in RCCA, Failure Analysis, 8D, and Six Sigma methodologies, along with technical training in areas such as statistics, variability reduction, manufacturing methods, and data analysis. They are proficient in performing technical activities such as troubleshooting, error proofing, RCCA, failure analysis, and 8D problem-solving. They also handle FAIRs, process, and product improvements. Quality Engineers typically have over years of industry experience and hold an engineering degree or equivalent experience.

Location: Hampton, VA | Compensation: $1000-$1100 USD | 1-Day Audit | Industry: Industrial 

Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Development Services: Provide supplier quality development services at various facilities and global supplier locations. This includes virtual and onsite assessment of products and processes according to specified requirements and specifications.

Quality Assessment Services: Assess the supplier's quality management system (QMS) against specified QMS requirements and product quality requirements, including the evaluation of procedures, work instructions, personnel interviews, and QMS documentation review.

Coordination and Logistics: Coordinate with vendors for onsite assessment logistics, schedule inspectors, and manage onsite access.

Final Reports: Compile final assessment reports, incorporate evidence into shared drives, review final assessment scores, and identify gaps with vendors and stakeholders.

Inspection Verification: Ensure inspection equipment is capable of detecting defects and that the inspection methodology, controls, records traceability, test methods, design verifications, and root cause and corrective actions are adequate per specifications.

Audit Execution: Audit and validate the execution of the source inspection plan.

Bug Tracking: Create, update, and maintain records for onsite assessment events, and support follow-up reassessment as needed.

Quality Control Documentation: Ensure the supplier's quality control system documents findings and has CAPA procedures and work instructions for QMS improvements.

Test Witnessing: Assess and witness tests, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), to validate equipment compliance before shipment.

Collaboration and Analysis: Collaborate with suppliers and sites to analyze failure modes and ensure they are covered in the inspection plan.

Engineering Activities:

Procedure Development: Develop procedures, work instructions, and PFMEAs on behalf of suppliers as specified intellectual property.

This role requires a proactive approach to quality assurance, a strong technical background, and excellent communication and collaboration skills to ensure high-quality standards are met across all supplier processes and products.
