Position Summary: The AV Engineer is responsible for both Audio Visual and Low Voltage Structure Cabling presales support by acting as a technical consultant to the sale force both remote and during in- person site visits as needed, generating functional system statements of functionality, block flow diagrams, equipment lists and labor estimations to enable creation of customer proposals.

Qualified individuals might receive a security clearance supporting the military and Government. Sporadic out-of-state travel for no more than 2 weeks at a time will be expected.

Structured in-house training for experienced service technicians or junior engineers will be provided to the right candidate.

The AV Engineer is also leveraged by the post sales team for project engineering to include: the successful configuration, set-up, fine-tuning, programming, testing, trouble-shooting and completion of audio-visual and video projects for NBCP Communications Systems’ customers. Work will be completed in the office as well as the customer site.

The AV Engineer will work alone or in conjunction with a Lead Technician to complete each project.

This position requires a high level of proficiency in audio-visual, network, audio-conferencing and video-conferencing operations.

Field Engineer Specific Responsibilities:

1. Ability to translate customer requirements into functional system designs.

2. Review pre-construction design and documentation

3. Provide assistance with technical design and level of effort needed by estimating hours and highlighting logistical challenges for the sales team to consider while pricing the opportunity

4. Generate functional system descriptions and block diagram

5. Identify all cabling and miscellaneous material needs

6. Assist Account Manager with labor and material estimates for projects

7. Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculation, acoustical modeling or other data as required

8. Provide on-going engineering support as needed

9. Assist with project sign-off

10. Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product as requested

11. Proficient with Video and Audio-Conferencing Configurations (SIP, H323, etc.)

12. Control System provisioning

13. DSP programming and audio engineering

14. Test systems upon completion to ensure systems function properly. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct technical issues on site

15. Provide direction to Lead Technicians, Engineers, Programmers for trouble-shooting and final engineering changes

16. Test, train and instruct customers and fellow internal team members on the proper use of equipment and systems

17. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints for solutions

18. Investigate and resolve open issues with vendor support teams

19. Obtain technical certifications and continual training as directed by management to further develop your career

20. Work with Help Desk to resolve escalated service calls as needed

21. Help to ensure all projects are done within the scope of work that is defined, installed within the predefined budget and customer deadline

22. Provide daily verbal/written updates to Project Management as needed

23. Help to ensure all projects are completed and approved by the client with signed “sign off sheets” when appropriate

24. Document and submit final programs and as-builts (if needed) for installed solution

25. Travel outside the Twin Cities Metro area may be required to complete some customer solutions.

Projects may require travel nation-wide.

Education/Experience:
A minimum of 5 years field experience in the audio/video integration industry; a minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering in addition to A/V experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:

1. Proficient in Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Vizio)

2. Working knowledge of Video-Conferencing (Cisco and Polycom)

3. VoIP Systems (Biamp, QSC, Polycom and ClearOne)

4. Control Solutions (Crestron and Extron)

5. DSP Systems (Biamp, QSC, Polycom and Clearone)

6. Desktop Conferencing Solutions (Zoom, Teams, WebEx)

Education, Certificates and Licenses:

1. Certified for at least one core Audio DSP product line: Biamp Tesira, QSC QSYS, Polycom, ClearOne.

2. Certified Crestron, AMX, Extron.

3. Valid and current Avixa CTS / CTS-D, CTS-I.

Other Requirements: Willingness and ability to work beyond 40 hours per week during peak periods to ensure client needs are met. Ability and willingness to travel as well as work evenings or weekends is required.

10. Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record

11. Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (Government or system specific) required.
