Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the activities of workers involved in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, equipment, and components in our passenger rail maintenance facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct workers in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to meet Talgo, Inc. specifications and standards.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations in accordance with FRA, OSHA, FDA, Talgo, and Amtrak standards.
  • Adjust work procedures and staffing levels to meet maintenance schedules.
  • Initiate, suggest, and implement plans to motivate workers to achieve maintenance service goals.
  • Ensure back shop processes are properly completed and documented (e.g., wheel bearing pressing, wheel assembly & disassembly).
  • Provide training courses related to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain FRA certifications to supervise certified personnel and sign official documents.
  • Provide feedback on budgetary issues to the Shop Manager.
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance and repair methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Monitor parts and supply usage for all mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure availability of all tools required for the department.
  • Act as the technical expert on all mechanical systems of Talgo trainsets.
  • Coordinate activities with other supervisors and departments.
  • Act as Supervisor In Charge (SIC) when assigned, coordinating daily activities with the Amtrak General Foreman.
  • Prepare nightly planning, including activities from other departments.
  • Represent Talgo in technical meetings and reports with customers.
  • Utilize business and work order management software.
  • Manage nightly activities and priorities to ensure on-time train departure and compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Calibrate and verify Rolling Stock wheel parameters measuring equipment.
  • Follow and support all safety standards and practices required by OSHA, WISHA, Amtrak, and Talgo, Inc.
  • Identify safety requirements by reviewing regulations, guidelines, and standards, including OSHA and EPA.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of FRA, OSHA, FDA, Talgo, and Amtrak standards.
  • Ability to adjust work procedures and staffing levels to meet schedules.
  • Strong communication and motivational skills.
  • Proficiency in business and work order management software.
  • FRA certifications are required.
