We are looking for a Facilities Technician to join our team.

Position Overview:

JW is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Facilities Technician. The primary goal of this PWS is to obtain the services of a facilities journeyman technician in order to repair and maintain facilities within the Pacific Region. In addition to doing electrical, plumbing and carpentry work on client facilities, the facilities journeyman technician would be assisting in the construction, maintenance and repair of infrastructure supporting the client observing system.

 Key Responsibilities:

 The Contractor shall provide skilled, experienced personnel and manage and support them as needed to perform the requirements of this PWS. In order to perform tasks in a collaborative environment, the contractor shall communicate task status, schedule changes promptly, produce monthly status reports highlighting task completion schedules and work schedule variations (if any), and work product deliveries.

  • Provide station/office inspections and identify maintenance repair problems.
  • Repair and maintain weather service towers and supporting equipment.
  • Provide labor related tasks such as fixing access flooring, assembling modular systems furniture and mounting related office equipment for office furniture.
  • Provide landscaping maintenance cutting and maintaining trees, shrubs, bushes and grass along with miscellaneous landscaping duties.
  • Provide labor related tasks such as demolition, lifting, digging, drilling, grinding, cutting, sanding, moving, hauling, carrying, palletizing, transporting and shipping of materials and equipment.
  • Complete basic carpentry tasks such as framing, drywall and cabinetry.
  • Complete basic electrical tasks such as electrical wiring, replacing electrical fixtures, power outlets, measuring current and voltage.
  • Complete basic plumbing tasks such as plumbing sinks, disposals, sweating copper piping, installing sewer and vent connections.
  • Complete task related to preparing, cutting, threading and installing fuel and black steel piping, including rust removal and remediation.
  • Complete basic masonry tasks such as concrete framing, rebar bending, mixing, pouring, floating and finishing concrete.
  • Complete labor tasks such as painting, applying and removing roofing, carpeting and installing vinyl, laminate, wood and access floors.
  • Assist in erecting and building structures such as towers, rain gauges and enclosures and wind sensors.
  • Provide preventative maintenance on air conditioning, closed circuit television, security cameras and miscellaneous security monitoring devices.
  • Repair and maintain roofs and roofing systems.
  • Provide reports, sketches, take offs, cost estimates and to conduct market research on facilities-related work and material.
  • Deliver supplies, move items to and from storage and haul rubbish.
  • Conduct Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) maintenance, which includes removal & installation of UPS equipment and batteries.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of experience as a facilities journeyman technician OR other equivalent technical experience.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds (unassisted) and carry it a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Experience with basic power tools such as power saws, power drills, impact drivers, hammer drills, cement mixers, chain saws, etc.
  • Experience in operating machinery such as forklifts, jackhammers, vibrating tampers, chipping guns, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, breakers, bucket trucks, etc.
  • Experience driving large trucks and trailers, etc. (a commercial driver’s license is not required).
  • Experience with carpentry, rough framing, finish cabinetry, ceilings, walls and floors.
  • Experience reading and understanding construction and engineering plans and documentation.
  • Experience doing take-offs and cost estimating.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel for preparing statements of work and cost estimates.
  • Experience using Autodesk Autocad or similar drafting software/techniques.
  • Experience working on electrical wiring, panels, batteries, replacing ballasts, light fixtures and electrical outlets. Experience reading wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, panel schedules and understanding of basic electric circuitry.
  • Able to lead construction projects, including ordering, staging, planning, shipping and organizing in a journeyman capacity.
  • Experience with hazardous material handling, preparing hazardous manifests and HAZMAT disposal.
  • Ability and experience to work at heights of 30-50 feet, with proper personal protective equipment.

 Training

  • The applicant will be required to take a climbing certification class to assist in spotting for a Federal government worker during repairs to equipment on 30 foot tall Rohn towers.
  • The applicant will be required to complete NOAA IT, Safety and environmental online training and work related training as assigned by Client or Pacific Regional Facilities Engineering Chief
