Job Title: Facility Maintenance Clerk

Job Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance and repair work duties for the Company's stores and office buildings. This role involves working under the immediate supervision of the Lead Building Maintenance Manager.

Duties:
  1. Clean and maintain equipment, including conveyors, hand trucks, and air conditioners.
  2. Steam clean carts, trucks, and equipment for the Meat Department.
  3. Repair shopping carts, including replacing wheels and plastic seats.
  4. Replace bulbs in sales and warehouse areas, as well as outside fixtures.
  5. Replace air conditioner filters every three months.
  6. Perform minor plumbing repairs, including toilet, hand basin, and slop sinks.
  7. Perform minor painting repairs, including lunchroom, restrooms, and warehouse areas.
  8. Perform minor floor repair, including laying tiles and carpet in sales areas.
  9. Perform minor carpentry, including building shelves and bookcases.
  10. Check and clean gutters, and remove rubbish from rooftops.
  11. Maintain and repair vendor delivery signs, shopping cart station signs, and tow away signs.
  12. Refill propane gas container tanks and deliver refills to all stores weekly or as needed.
Responsibility & Authority:
  1. Responsibility to Equipment:
  • Responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of all equipment and tools used.
  • Reports any malfunctioning or broken equipment to the Building Maintenance Manager for repair and servicing.
Responsibility to Times:
  • Maintains a friendly and polite disposition at all times.
  • Operates all Company vehicles in a safe manner.
Responsibility to Others:
  • Ensures that all work is performed in a safe manner and in accordance with established guidelines to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Reports any hazardous conditions.
Job Requirements:
  1. Education:
  • No educational requirements are needed.
Experience:
  • Previous general utility/maintenance experience is helpful, including the use of various types of equipment and materials.
Effort:
  1. Mental:
  • Plans out daily responsibilities and routines to complete all duties within reasonable time requirements.
Physical:
  • Work consists of physical work and effort, including considerable walking.
Initiative:
  • Often works alone and must be able to complete assigned tasks without constant supervision.
Working Conditions:
  1. Working Environment:
  • In general, working conditions are favorable, but may be exposed to dust, cleaning fluids, vapors, and other chemicals.
  • May be exposed to various temperature changes, chill, and freezer, as well as heat during summer months.
  • May work outdoors, including exterior work.
  • May be exposed to noise from machinery or power tools.
Hours of Work:
  • Full-Time employees work 40 hours per week.
  • Part-Time employees work 20-25 hours per week.
  • Overtime hours are minimal.
