New Action Officer position opening up October 2024 contingent upon contract award for The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), a new agency within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This agency is focused on accelerating breakthroughs in health. ARPA-H operates with a high degree of flexibility and agility to support high-risk, high-reward research programs that have the potential to transform human health.

The Action Officer/Project Management Specialist will be an integral member of our team, dedicated to ensuring the seamless execution of projects through meticulous tracking of actions including tasks, briefings, and various deliverables. This role is suited for individuals with a proven track record of supporting government clients, demonstrating a keen ability to monitor deliverables effectively, allocate resource needs efficiently, and develop comprehensive project work plans. Familiarity with the ARPA organization and its methodologies is highly desired, indicating a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this context.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Action Tracking: Implement and maintain a robust system for tracking all project actions, tasks, briefings, and deliverables to ensure timely completion and adherence to project milestones.

  • Government Client Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for government clients, ensuring their needs are met through proactive monitoring of project deliverables and effective communication.

  • Resource Allocation: Assess project requirements to allocate resources appropriately, including personnel, budget, and materials, to achieve project objectives efficiently.

  • Project Planning: Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive work plans that outline project tasks, timelines, and resource requirements, ensuring alignment with client objectives and deliverables.

  • ARPA Methodologies: Apply knowledge of ARPA organization methodologies to enhance project outcomes, incorporating best practices and innovative solutions to meet the unique needs of government clients.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have directly supported government clients and projects.

  • Experience monitoring deliverables, suspense dates, allocating resource needs, and project workplans.

  • Knowledge/experience in supporting ARPA, DARPA or related Federal agencies (IARPA, ARPA-E, HSARPA, NIH, CDC, FDA or USDA) organization highly desired

  • Deep understanding of Federal agencies organization and methodologies preferred.

  • Familiarity with project management principles, practices, and tools essential.

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with precision and attention to detail.
