What is the Clubhouse?  A social support membership organization designed to give people living with mental illness what they need beyond medication and therapy – help with securing jobs, education, housing, a safe space to find community, and more, where they can also give back to help others.

 

The Role: Rehabilitation Specialist (culinary)

The Rehabilitation Specialist (culinary) at ACTS Clubhouse helps members with mental health challenges to develop skills in culinary arts, hospitality, technology, customer service, and more. They work closely with staff, supervise activities, and ensure program goals are met. Their role includes coaching members in work-readiness and social skills, building relationships, and identifying member goals through Clubhouse activities and on-the-job training. They adhere to Clubhouse International standards. These are hands-on roles that involve training and coaching both at the Clubhouse and in community-based employment settings. Experience with mental illness or disabilities is preferred but not required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for hands-on preparation of healthy meal options (breakfast and lunch)
  • Knowledge of procedures and standards for Safety and Sanitation
  • Work side-by-side with Clubhouse members (adults living with disabilities) in all aspects of culinary operations: menu planning, inventory, purchasing, meal preparation, service, food safety, sanitation and clean-up
  • Co-manage Clubhouse kitchen and dining room
  • Role model professional workplace behaviors, attitudes and relationships
  • Operate computers, cash register, electronic devices and commercial kitchen equipment

·         Implement menus that align with the nutritional guidelines that enhance the overall health and well-being of our members and guests

  • Assume additional vocational rehabilitation responsibilities, as assigned
  • Help members explore vocational training and employment opportunities with the culinary arts
  • Additional duties as assigned and deemed necessary for the betterment and growth of the organization

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least 6 months as a BHT, Intake worker or Case Manager in the behavioral health field
  • Must have a High School diploma/GED and 1-3 years of culinary experience
  • Valid ServSafe for Managers certificate or willing to be certified within the first 30 days of employment

·         Valid Florida Driver's License

·         Must be able to pass a level 2 background check

 

Expected Hours of Work: 

·         Monday through Friday - from 8:30a to 4:30p. 

·         Occasional weekend and/or holiday assignment

o   Rotating Saturdays 10:30am – 2pm

o   Thursday Evening 4:30pm – 6pm

 

Travel:  Occasional travel to assist members with training
