Chief Development Officer

Basic Function: The Chief Development Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the fundraising activities, including a broad public relations and communications strategy, that advances Tenfold’s mission and core values throughout the community. The Chief Development Officer will continuously evaluate, grow, and lead Tenfold’s comprehensive and strategic development program which includes donor relationships, major gifts, grants, corporate giving, individual giving, special events, planned giving and associated marketing/promotional activities aligned with the organization’s short and long-term financial needs and goals.
A. Essential Functions1. In coordination with the CEO and Controller, develop, execute and implement the annual development plan and associated budget. Raise matching, general operating, tax credit, and capital budget funds.
2. Lead development and implementation of a corporate giving strategy.
3. Re-build the Development Committee membership and focus to leverage for fundraising.
4. Monitor income and expenses associated with fundraising, marketing to donors, and volunteer coordination. Align decisions and activities with budgetary considerations and ROI.
5. Build partnerships and solicit donations by meeting with individuals, representatives of businesses, corporations, foundations, churches and government agencies. Source and secure opportunities for the CEO and/or other staff to participate as appropriate.
6. Produce attractive, relevant, and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous donors and the public.
7. Lead development efforts around donor stewardship, specifically faith-based community involvement.
8. Support the Senior Development Officer’s initiatives including events, volunteering, and monthly giving. Assist in assigning goals for each of these functions and synergize to produce growth.
9. Lead the creation of a new donor strategy for Tenfold.
10. Lead the development of events and communication for specific programs of Tenfold, specifically developing an annual? event for the TLC Shelter Program.
11. Oversee grant writing, guiding the grant writer in the research and preparation of proposals and reports for both governmental and private grants. Coordinate with CIO to identify new grant opportunities.
12. Present to businesses, social groups, churches, schools, civic clubs organizations, etc. Involve other Tenfold staff, as appropriate.
13. Manage Tenfold’s development software. Coordinate with finance department on tracking, reporting, and upgrades. Direct tracking of potential financial donors of all types. Improve donor information and communication.
B. Other Functions- Stay current with marketing and social media trends and best practices through networking and participation in professional organizations and events.
- Serve as a member of the Leadership Team and Management Team and advises the CEO on all related matters.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO of Tenfold.
Assigns, plans and oversees the work of the development team.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive and seek development opportunities for staff.
Regularly evaluates roles and responsibilities of development team to align with changes to annual planning.
C. Supervision Received: Responsible to the CEO of TenfoldD. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
2. A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or related field is preferred. Will consider equivalent experience or other credentials if candidate has strong administrative, fundraising or marketing experience. Training in fundraising and marketing is preferred.
3. Demonstrated leadership ability to motivate, organize, coach, and supervise is required.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
5. Enjoy meeting people and cultivating relationships with new and key constituents.
6. Ability to prepare and review written materials and to create these documents is required.
7. Proficiency in computer software applications required.
8. Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of population served.

10. Proven track record of working collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers or professionals.
E. Time RequirementsThis is a regular full-time position working 40 hours per week. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
