About Us: RT Executive Search has been engaged to hire an experienced Financial Controller for a prominent sales brokerage based in Ocala, Florida. Established over 50 years ago, the company is extremely stable, and is considered a core center of commerce in the local Ocala community.

The Company’s Sales Division is world-renowned for its sales specialty, and the company dominates their market, brokering 80% of such sales in North America.

In the last 15 years, the company has achieved over $2 billion in sales volume, exceeding $200M in 2023. Buyers from over 40 countries and 49 US States have made purchases through the Company’s auctions.

In addition to its auction business, the company operates two small retail locations, and another operating division which will be disclosed upon candidate application, if applicable.

While the company facilitated sales of $200M in 2023, revenue of the company is much less since the Company only keeps a small percentage of the sales which are brokered. The company is run like a small, family business, and the position is open because the Controller is retiring after 20+ happy years with the company. The President is seeking someone who is comfortable with the “day-to-day financial reporting” over the long-haul.  

Position Summary: The Controller will direct all financial activities of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, accounting, and business management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the preparation and presentation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and all other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the inaugural budgeting and forecasting processes, if necessary, and provide financial analysis and insights to support financially intelligent business decisions.
  • Manage the Accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Conduct financial analysis, identify trends, and provide recommendations for cost reduction and profitability improvement.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and ensure optimal use of financial resources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial institutions.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors and collaborate with other executive team members to move the company forward.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial software, including Sage products.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical standards.
