Job Summary

Director of Program Development is multifaceted and critical to the success of the organization. Their primary responsibility is to conduct extensive research on state brain injury waiver programs, analyzing their effectiveness and impact. By conducting strategic analysis, the Director of Program Development identifies areas of growth and provides valuable recommendations to the leadership team. This position plays a vital role in the Missouri region by providing supervision and direct support to therapists. Their objective is to ensure that therapists are equipped with the necessary resources and guidance to deliver effective services to consumers receiving brain injury rehabilitation services.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Missouri Brain Injury Waiver program, including its services, provider requirements, and participant eligibility criteria.
  • Acquire a complete understanding of provider requirements, both for individual therapists and organizational capacity, to ensure compliance and quality service delivery.
  • Familiarize oneself with contracting requirements for each program, ensuring adherence to all contractual obligations and regulations.
  • Provide support to teams in the completion of Consumer Team meetings, ensuring adherence to all philosophical principles and aspects of service delivery.
  • Conduct research on state programs, analyzing their effectiveness and impact, and provide recommendations to the leadership team based on strategic analysis.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality of care provided to program participants.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to brain injury waiver programs, and incorporate this knowledge into program development and improvement efforts.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among therapists, teams, and program participants to ensure a cohesive and inclusive service delivery approach.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of therapists and teams, providing constructive feedback and coaching as needed to support their professional growth and development.
  • Complete intakes with new consumers requesting services in Missouri.
  • Compile and send reports as requested to President and Vice President of Services.
  • Work with Vice President of Operations and Finance as needed to approve budget and review expenses.
  • Participate in regular training, conferences, and webinars on disability, benefits, brain injury services, and related issues.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to serve on agency and interagency task groups as requested.
  • Encourage client self-advocacy and provide systems advocacy as it relates to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Educate community members and organizations on systems change and inclusion on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President of Services and President.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have proven commitment in the belief that all people with disabilities are entitled to full community inclusion.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities in independent living settings.
  • Must be a self-starter, excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and have a track record at finding innovative solutions to difficult problems.
  • Ability to deal professionally with all members of team and all outside entities including clients’ families and/or guardians.
  • The ability to engage and collaborate with state waiver managers, legislators, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling and be able to change from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Education and experience equivalent to undergraduate degree in mental health, social services, or business. A Master’s degree in an applicable field is preferred.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer proficiency. Competence with Excel, PowerPoint, and other general technology.
  • Requires good verbal skills and listening ability; ability to speak to large groups of people.
  • Must be open to occasional travel.
  • Must be able to read and write lengthy reports when required.
  • Reliable transportation in and around the community.
