Job DescriptionJob Description

Type of Employment: Synchronous, virtual employment with one in-person event annually. Part-time with benefits

  • Serves as a communications point person for the Swedenborgian Church of North America, maintaining membership and mailing lists and facilitating communication between different churches, groups, and committees, including distributing memos. Attending all of these meetings in-person is not expected, however virtual attendance of some kind often is and may be on a weekend.
  • Oversees the Annual Convention in partnership with the President of the denomination. The Annual Convention is typically a multi-day hybrid event with approximately 125 in-person attendees and 75 remote attendees hosted in different locations across North America. The process starts with finding and securing an appropriate location, planning for and managing the event, and the post event wrap-up. Manages all of the details of the event, including the management of 2–3 employees. • Ensures the denomination's electronic presence exists and remains current on the Internet.  Helps maintain the denomination’s website and creates additional interfaces and content as needed (for example, grant applications, registrations forms, Annual Convention information, posting the annual (redacted) Journal, etc).
  • Be the contact person who, through our web page “contact me form” and email, answers questions and, with the assistance of the President of the denomination, directs inquiries to the appropriate people.
  • Creates and manages the online interface for denominational grant requests. Compiles the requests and works directly with applicants to ensure that their applications are complete before submitting them to the Treasurer of the denomination for review.
  • Compiles, edits, prints, and distributes the annual Convention Journal. This includes the collection, compilation, and publication of the Advance Reports in May.
  • Maintains the Swedenborgian Church of North America's records digitally and is able to search and retrieve them as requested.
  • Serves on the Standing Committee of Communication and Information (SCCI) in an ex officio role.
  • Identifies inefficiencies and works to save money and time for the denomination through correction of those inefficiencies. Reviews in-place systems periodically to ensure efficiency.
