This position is based in Vermillion, SD but travels to customer job sites.

O'Connor Kiln and Dryer, Inc. (OKD) is a veteran owned company that specializes in rotary kiln and dryer maintenance, as well as all other types of drums. OKD operates primarily in the Midwest and works at various types of processing plants that produce a wide variety of products.

Pay Range: $33 - $35 per hour, DOE.

Shift: 12 hour days, Monday through Sunday when on jobsites. Must be able to travel to customber jobsites.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Project Managers will inspect rotary kilns and dryers to identify signs of wear and damage and execute necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance. Project Manager responsibilities include planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, and timeline. Be prepared for extensive travel to different locations and types of industrial plants. Responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Lead day and night crews at jobsites.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients.
  • Ensure accuracy of paperwork and reporting to company administration.

Tasks/Work Activities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives and scope.
  • Develop project plans, including schedules and risk assessments. Manage project teams, including contractors.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones, and address any deviations.
  • Facilitate effective communication among team members, clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Promote a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
  • Obtain client sign-off, close out projects, and archive project documents.
  • Read prints/drawings and read/take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (e.g. vertical, horizontal, overhead, etc.).
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.

Qualifications:

Years Experience: 2+

Education: Technical school graduate required. Proven experience managing industrial projects, preferably in rotary equipment.

Additional Information: American Welding Society (AWS) certification preferred. Candidates must be able to work in physically demanding conditions, including confined spaced, elevated platforms, and extreme temperatures.
