We are seeking a highly skilled Grants Specialist I/II to join our team at the University of South Dakota. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the grant application process, budgeting, and financial reporting. This is a key role in our Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and we are looking for someone with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the development and submission of grant proposals, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Monitor grant submission approvals, ensuring all required reviews and signature approvals are obtained prior to submission.
- Interpret requests for proposals (RFPs) from state, federal, and other funding entities, using best judgment to determine requirements.
- Analyze grant applications to determine budget content and format, forms usage, fiscal and administrative accuracy, and appropriate cost allocations for direct and indirect costs.
- Ensure investigators have procured or are in the process of procuring appropriate approvals in accordance with University and Sponsor requirements.
- Coordinate award acceptance and project administration, including daily requirements associated with proposal, award, and project administration.
- Review individual grant and contract documents to ensure all terms and conditions are applicable, acceptable, and in compliance with current state regulations, university financial policy and procedure, general administrative policy, Regent oversight, Office of Management and Budget circulars, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and funding agency general and specific terms and conditions.
- Evaluate whether all required representations and certifications have been performed and appropriate committee approvals obtained in compliance with Federal, State, and University policies and procedures.
- Communicate with faculty members, Vice Presidents, Deans, directors, department chairs, and staff to facilitate the flow of information and provide advice on approvals and grant activities.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of grant application processes and procedures.
- Ability to interpret RFPs and determine requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
This is a regular full-time position with a typical work schedule of 8-5, Monday through Friday. The successful candidate will be required to work in an office environment and may be required to travel occasionally.
