JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements and qualifications:

  • Electrical estimating experience (preferred)
  • Associates degree (optional)
  • Electrician License E-1/E-2 (preferred)
  • Electrical fieldwork background (required)
  • Ability to understand numbers and work change orders (required)
  • Experience in the electrical field (required)
  • Has experience in estimating/project coordinator (we are willing to train the right candidate)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software (ConEst and Accubid)
  • Desires a work culture with a team atmosphere and is willing to help out however needed
  • Is looking for a challenging and rewarding career that is ever-changing and will not get boring
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized, detailed-oriented and efficient
  • Must possess the ability to organize and manage a schedule and adhere to project deadlines

Full Job Description

Prior to Award of Contract

  • Attend pre-bid and negotiated job meetings, prior to pricing
  • Review specifications for material requirements
  • Perform material takeoffs
  • Review work to be done to pinpoint problem areas
  • Review bid documents, assemble a quote
  • Review project contracts for objectionable language
  • Estimating and quantity take-offs
  • Preparing and managing bid packages
  • Scheduling
  • Cost control
  • Contact existing and prospective new quality clients (builders, developers, owners)
  • Solicit for new and upcoming projects of appropriate size
  • Meet with clients/attend walkthrough/pre-bid visits
  • Perform complete take-offs of new projects
  • Work with suppliers for material/switchgear/lighting quotes
  • Develop complete proposals
  • Deliver and follow up on proposals
  • Continuously follow up on all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards/probabilities
  • Communicate with customers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing, and build relationships
  • Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricing
  • Review completed estimates and proposals for thoroughness, accuracy, value engineering alternatives, and compliance with strategic goals
  • Prepare proposals for budgetary and conceptual estimates and for strategic opportunities
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and/or meet with customers to identify project scope
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of bid documents and ensure timely delivery
  • Attends bid de-scope meetings, and ensures completion of open items

After Award of Contract

  • Compile and forward submittals
  • Work with clients on scheduling and status
  • Value and perform change orders & RFI's
  • Work with GCs on billing and AIA documents
  • Schedule and attend job turnover meetings, and assure preparation of job turnover meeting materials
  • Ensure job labor data generated by the operations department is analyzed and reflected in estimating database in order to accurately reflect field productivity in estimates
  • Schedule and attend project post mortems and catalog historical information
  • Review material pricing provided by purchasing and suppliers and adjusts estimating database and procedures accordingly
