Position Overview:
As an Electrical Cost Estimator at Sodon's Electric, Inc., you will play a vital role within our estimating department, tasked with creating precise and competitive bids for various electrical undertakings.
You will collaborate closely with senior estimators, project leaders, and clients to ensure that all estimates are accurate and aligned with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop detailed and precise electrical cost estimates for commercial, mixed-use, and industrial projects.
2. Examine project drawings, specifications, and other pertinent documents to ascertain the scope of work, required materials, and labor needs.
3. Work in partnership with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to collect essential information and guarantee that all estimates are thorough.
4. Assess and validate subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and competitive.
5. Identify potential cost-saving measures (Value Engineering) and alternative strategies to optimize project budgets.
6. Maintain and refresh a database of unit costs, material pricing, and other relevant estimating information.
7. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site assessments, and post-bid evaluations to provide insights and facilitate the successful transition of estimates into the project execution phase.
9. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and prospective clients.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical estimating, with a solid background in residential, commercial, and/or industrial projects. (Entry-level position also available for the right candidate, with less experience)
Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities with a sharp attention to detail.
Experience with McCormick or other estimating software is advantageous.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards is beneficial.
