OVERVIEW

The Donations Processor I is a key member of the Processing Center that is tasked with unloading trucks and donations, sorting, hanging, packing, tagging, pricing and redistributing donated goods to the area thrift stores to ensure the success of the SVdP mission. Employees at this level of the series perform routine entry-level processing tasks under close and continual supervision. The work process involves steps that are largely repetitive in character, requiring careful adherence to well-established instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Sort:

  • Load and unload trucks efficiently and with correct product placement
  • Assist with keeping warehouse storage area clean, orderly and safe
  • Sorting donations to correct departments, placing on conveyor belt or in carts,
  • Utilize clothing and cardboard bailing equipment, including pallet jacks and hand carts, effectively and efficiently
  • Other duties as assigned

Softlines Hanging and Pricing:

  • Check clothing for quality and salability
  • Maintain production quotas in one of several clothing workstations (e.g., pull from conveyor belt, hang clothes on hangers, pack seasonal in gaylords, price clothing)
  • Identify high quality clothing for special handling
  • Other duties as assigned

Hardlines Processing:

  • Check household and other items for quality and salability
  • Identify specialty or collectable items for special handling
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Less than high school education or High School diploma or GED, entry level


SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of:
    1. Reading comprehension (Intermediate level)
    2. Process operations (Basic level)
  • Skills and Abilities:
    1. Oral and written communication to wide and varied audiences
    2. Follow instructions and directions
    3. Work in a team environment in fast-paced environment

  • Physical:
    1. Frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
    2. Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear
    3. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    4. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, if applicable.
    5. Occasionally works in high precarious places.
    6. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
