The Tooling Supervisor is a critical role within the manufacturing department at Datwyler, responsible for overseeing all tooling activities, including mold design, mold making, insert making, and mold repair. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain all tooling department equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Design and build molds, reviewing designs prior to cutting to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Repair molds, prioritizing the repair backlog to minimize downtime and maximize production.
- Troubleshoot molding problems, identifying and resolving issues to maintain product quality and efficiency.
- Inspect machined inserts, prioritizing the insert cutting backlog to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain tooling equipment, performing routine maintenance and repairs to prevent downtime.
- Follow and enforce safety rules, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Support production operations, completing tasks in a timely manner to meet production goals.
- Train, counsel, and discipline employees as necessary, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements
- Five years of experience as a machinist, programmer, or shop supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in Solidworks and Mastercam, with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
- Comparable combinations of training and experience may be considered.
- Supervisory or managerial experience in a machine shop setting, with a strong ability to use independent judgment in determining methods and processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, work methods, and production flow.
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and documentation.
