Job Summary

ARA is looking for a highly motivated Procurement Engineer at its Laurel, MD site. As a Procurement Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the procurement process, focusing on engineering-related materials, components, prototype support, and locating and qualifying new suppliers for emerging technologies. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality goods and services, supporting the success of our advanced technology solutions.

  1. Requirements Analysis:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements for projects.
    • Translate technical specifications into procurement strategies and sourcing plans.
  2. Supplier Evaluation and Selection:
    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers capable of meeting engineering and quality standards.
    • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  3. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
    • Work closely with project teams to estimate costs associated with engineering materials and components.
    • Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial efficiency.
  4. Contract Negotiation:
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, considering technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
    • Ensure contracts align with legal and regulatory requirements.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain high-quality standards for procured materials.
    • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
  6. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Implement measures to address supply chain disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.
  7. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Work closely with engineering, production, and logistics teams to align procurement activities with project milestones.
    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to address any changes in project requirements.
  8. Market Research and Trends:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and market conditions.
    • Provide recommendations for incorporating new technologies and materials into the procurement process.

Experience and Skills

  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards in the aerospace and defense sector.
  • 5+ years of procurement.
  • Familiarity with C5ISR systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience as a buyer in the aerospace and defense industry, with a focus on engineering materials.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Flexibility- ability to adapt and respond to changing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience in DelTek CostPoint Purchasing Modules a plus, but not essential.
  • Intermediate Excel Skill and additional Computer Skills (Microsoft Suite- Word, Power Point etc.)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
