JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF NWC HOPE HOUSE I & II

SHIFT: VARIED TIME SCHEDULE

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF HOPE HOUSE AND COO

SUMMARY:

Assistant to the Director of NWC Hope House is a F/T position serving individuals diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities who are living in a community based group home. They will provide supports, direct care supervision, and skill training for individuals living in a group residential program.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

● Upholding New Jersey State license requirements, home inspections and audits

● Licensing review and preparation

● Assist with medical appointments.

● Audit medication administration records

● Provide emergency coverage when needed

● Administer prescribed medications and/or first aid.

● Responsible for ensuring all the required documentation is complete, timely and accurate

● Cooperate with the Agency and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection or investigation. Works closely with the Behaviorists, agency Nurses, medical care providers, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other interested parties to address the individuals’ behavioral and/or medical concerns. This can include observation, reporting, documentation, direct assistance, following formal or informal plans, etc.

● Attends all scheduled staff meetings; staff meetings are mandatory. Participates actively in these meetings to ensure a team approach.

● Periodically works irregular hours as assigned

● Performs any other responsibilities that are directly related to the wellbeing of the individuals or the needs of the program as directed.

  • Because the work schedule may vary due to unexpected absences of staff, they must be flexible and willing to work with the support team in meeting the needs of the consumer.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

● To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to perform the essential job functions.

● One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

● A license valid in the state of New Jersey

● A high school diploma or GED is required.

● Must be at least 18 years of age

● The employee must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.

● The employee must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

● Must submit and pass a drug test prior to employment.

● Must complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI)

● The employee must submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.

● The successful completion of training to dispense medications to consumers will be required if the assigned consumers require staff members to administer their medications.

● Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

● Pushing/Pulling/Carrying up to 50 pounds. Heavy Lifting/Transferring

● Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
