Summary:

Are you someone who enjoys performing a wide variety of responsibilities while supporting others with communications and administrative tasks? We are looking for a Fair Housing Specialist to support C.A.R. with staff-facing, leadership, membership and fair housing-related communications and administrative tasks. The Specialist will draft copy for e-blasts, social media posts, newsletters, background papers, articles, trainings and PowerPoints. The Fair Housing Specialist will also support the DEI Program Manager as necessary. They will work with other C.A.R. staff to create resources for use in all C.A.R.’s efforts to foster a more diverse and inclusive workplace environment as well as programs that address the homeownership and fair housing challenges impacting diverse groups, including communities of color and the LGBTQ+ community.

Job Title: Fair Housing Specialist
Reports To: Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer
Group: Strategy and Engagement
Compensation Range: $65,000 to $70,000 Annually
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Responsibilities:

  • Draft copy for e-blasts, websites, newsletters, social media posts, articles to offer C.A.R. members with information about fair housing and to help expand membership engagement and to help foster an inclusive environment within the REALTOR® community.

  • Conduct background research and draft language for internal and member and leadership-facing fair housing trainings, articles and background papers.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to create promotional materials and presentations on Association Fair Housing and DEI efforts.

  • Draft agendas, meeting summaries and action items for meetings to help staff take action steps from internal and external meetings with staff, members and strategic partners.

  • Correspond with internal and external groups and teams to facilitate ongoing fair housing and homeownership opportunity initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • 2+ years in a volunteer or employment role related to D.E.I. or education in sociology, culture, etc.

  • Demonstrated writing and graphic design skills - including samples or a portfolio.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Sensitivity regarding terminology that refers to demographic categories, identities and cultures.

  • Expertise with diversity concepts such as bias, privilege, and inclusion.

  • Excellent grammar and written communication skills. Ability to use different writing styles and tones for different needs, audiences and mediums.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) as well as other internet-based tools such as Canva and Google Drive.

  • Ability to design beautiful, interesting and effective flyers and presentations that help promote and foster understanding about C.A.R.’s D.E.I. and fair housing efforts.
