Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPURPOSE:
Under general supervision, this position ensures the exchange of product related information between U.S. International Inc., Development (RD) and Production Planning (PP). It ensures a smooth product transfer from RD/PP through product, process and equipment/technology implementation in the Paint Shops at the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports Development (RD) at design for manufacturing, using the experiences out of current series production.
  • Prepares planning options, evaluates cost-efficiency and provides analysis of both.
  • Plans, specifies and purchases paint shop equipment, oversees transfer of equipment to production, ready for operation or assigns and coordinates Production Planning Department in case of large or new product launch projects.
  • Exchanges information with partners / colleagues in the plant and in PP to establish and share best practices and implement those best practices into processes and work instructions.
  • Works in project groups and leads and/or coordinates projects.
  • Plans and introduces measures to assure corrosion protection and follows/meets legal requirements for the protection of the environment.
  • Procures from and exchanges information with Development, Production, Suppliers and other related persons or departments.
  • Reviews product concepts with Development Engineers throughout the development phases.
  • Provides plant requirements to the Development Engineers to enhance manufacturing and document lessons learned.
  • Prepares documents requiring product improvements and works with the Development engineers until closure.
  • Follows and ensures all affected rules, policies and laws concerning safety and security.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, OR the equivalent combination of education and/or years of relevant working experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s):
A minimum of 3 years in Paint Shop as it relates to paint process, materials and/or paint application.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Solid understanding of industrial power system protection, control and power monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of national electrical code (NEC) and standard for electrical safety in the workplace (NFPA 70E).
  • Solid understanding of commercial and industrial lighting systems.
  • Solid understanding of facility scope development and costing
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate facilitation and project management skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Work experience in product development and in a pre-production environment.
  • Experience with Daimler Equipment Standards through Enterprise Content Management (ECM).
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing, in German and English.
  • Experience in CAD systems (Engineering Client, Solidworks, Siemens NX, Catia, FAPLIS).
  • Experience with Daimler Product Management Software.
  • Project Management Certification like PMP, PMI-ACP.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting  up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/ WORKING SCHEDULE:
Location: Vance, AL, Series Planning 1 and Paint Shop
Shift Schedule: Day Shift
Core Working Hours: 6:15am – 3:00pm
Weekly Overtime: None
Weekend Work: As needed for trials and equipment installations
Travel: None
Cell Phone Required: Yes
Special PPE Required: Standard PPE (safety glasses and steel toe shoes)
Assignment Start: ASAP
Assignment End: June 1, 2025, with potential for extension of contract
