Position Summary: The AVP, Commercial Portfolio Lender is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial relationships, serving as the main point of contact for these clients. The role involves overseeing a portfolio of commercial real estate and commercial & industrial loans, as well as developing new business from this portfolio.

Key responsibilities include portfolio monitoring and reporting, analyzing financial data to assess credit requests, recommending loan structures, managing the credit approval and annual review processes, and identifying cross-selling and referral opportunities for other bank services. Additionally, this position serves as a resource for the assigned lending team, assisting with new loan requests, modifications, watched asset reports and other lending reports assigned.

Lastly, collaborating with other bank departments (credit, loan operations, and retail) to ensure timeliness and provide excellent customer service. The role emphasizes building strong customer relationships while actively prospecting for new business from the portfolio or outside resources.

Essential Job Functions:

• Serve existing accounts by reviewing quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financials for compliance and credit determination.

• Maintain and confirm the creditworthiness of customers by gathering, reviewing, and tracking appropriate documentation from applicants.

• Participate in the underwriting and/or the underwriting of loan requests for new and existing customers, including verifying financial information, analyzing financial statements, conducting credit checks, and ensuring loans meet all policy and regulatory requirements.

• Consistently identify and analyze potential new business opportunities from the portfolio and/or develop prospects for commercial loans.

• Promote and cross-sell other bank products and services to meet customer requirements.

• Attend and participate in the loan closing process.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of commercial credit and financial analysis techniques.

• Ability to work quickly, independently, and in a highly organized manner on multiple projects simultaneously.

• In-depth understanding of commercial loans, banking regulations, lending policies, procedures, and techniques, with a demonstrated understanding of loan risk factors.

• Professional, confident, and comfortable in interactions with both external and internal customers.

• Strong analytical and negotiating skills.

• Understanding of economics, general business/commercial finance, and accounting.

• Legal knowledge of lending practices.

• Familiarity with bank policies and relevant Federal and State regulations related to commercial lending.

• Strong presentation, oral, and written communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in commercial credit and/or lending within the commercial real estate and C&I lending market.

• 4-year degree or equivalent related experience.

• Experience with commercial lending products and services.

• This role is pivotal in ensuring the bank's commercial portfolio's health and growth while delivering exceptional customer service and identifying new business opportunities.
