Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Desktop Support Technician for a future project with the State Government of Virginia, based in Fairfax, VA. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of desktop and laptop systems within the government infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in troubleshooting, hardware repair, and software installation, and will be comfortable working both onsite and remotely as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site or shop-based (stationary) troubleshooting and resolution of computer-related issues, including desktop and laptop hardware (Intel-based systems).
  • Assemble computers, conduct hardware repairs, and provide technical support for peripheral devices.
  • Install and troubleshoot operating systems and application software to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide basic networking support and configuration for desktops and laptops.
  • Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of Dell Latitude laptops and HP desktops/laptops (subject to change).
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with client standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in desktop and laptop troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting peripheral devices.
  • A+ Certification required.
  • Experience with Dell Latitude laptops and HP desktops/laptops.
  • Formal specialized training may be substituted for experience on the basis of one month’s training for one month’s experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Environment:

This position may require a mix of onsite, remote, and hybrid work, depending on project requirements and government guidelines. The role is part of a 5-year future project anticipated to start soon.. Candidates must have valid work authorization to work in the USA.
