Job Description


Responsible for depositing and applying cash receipts and driving the collections effort for the Firm. This job requires efficient communication and excellent attention to detail to proactively contact, follow-up, research, reconcile and resolve billing discrepancies or collection issues. The ideal candidate enjoys problem solving with team members and can effectively communicate with payer contacts. The ability to prioritize is essential to this position.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deposit Firm checks and apply daily cash receipts (checks and EFT deposits) against open invoices.
  • Research within various web-based billing systems to determine reason for non-payment.
  • Pro-actively make outbound collections calls and follow-up with e-mail messages to collect aging receivables.
  • Document client communications and subsequent actions in the accounts receivable system.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive client and payer contact relationships.
  • Adjust cash applications due to changes in payers and split file percentages.
  • Assist attorneys, team members and payers with collection inquiries.
  • Team with the Partners, Accounting Manager and Controller on collection efforts for aged receivables.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Fundamental Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Previous cash application and collections experience required.
  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Aderant or Elite Enterprise experience preferred.
  • Law firm background desired.
