Isolatek International, the industry leader in the marketing and manufacturing of passive fire protection materials for the construction industry has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Manager in our Maintenance Department at its Huntington, IN location.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the repair and maintenance of company infrastructure, machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full compliance with Plant and Corporate EHS programs.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replaces defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Setup and operates ladle, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Setup and operate electric arc welder and cutting torch.
  • Troubleshoot and repairs electrical equipment.
  • Check and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, tools and equipment and report to the Plant Manager any supplies that need to be ordered prior to completing.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Aside from standard Maintenance duties and responsibilities, the Maintenance Manager will be assigned some or all of the following:

  • Coordinates the set up the parts inventory section (includes marking and maintaining all storage locations.
  • Oversees daily entering of all parts used and received into maintenance software.
  • Sets up and prep all parts for projects to be performed.
  • Helps set inventory levels required to make sure we have the right resources when they become needed.
  • Oversees assigned projects from start to finish, working together with the Regional Operations Manager on scheduling manpower needed to complete tasks.
  • Lead person on maintenance down days.
  • Oversees contractors and other workers.
  • Assures compliance with all safe maintenance work practices and policies like Hot Works, LOTO, Confined Spaces and other essential programs.
  • Audits proper use and documentation of the safety programs, as directed by Plant Manager.
  • Gets involved in discussions with vendors so he understands the current general trends in the industry.
  • Works with the Regional Operations Manager on implementation of the CMMS software and continuous development of its capability and reach (examples would be work order system through “live” tracking, parts management, bills of material, efficiency KPIs, reporting, etc.)
  • Coordinates with the Regional Operations Manager for budgeting of the maintenance department activities, including staffing, maintenance materials and training.
  • Develops his knowledge of industry standard reliability tools and techniques, data analysis, continual improvement processes to achieve a back-up status to the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed to support the plant operations.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • BS Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership support experience and minimum of 10 years of field experience.

SKILLS:

  • Advance mathematical skills, reasoning ability, running and demonstrated knowledge of the plant process and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cupola furnace operations and horizontal compression packaging machines desirable.
  • Microsoft software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), is required.
  • Proficient use of the Excel data analytics package preferred.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions during group meetings, happenings, etc.
