Job description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating activities, with minimal supervision, and performs duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. Maintain and improve facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise several maintenance employees, in their daily tasks, that include electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and facility repairs.
  • Maintain and enforce safety program for the maintenance department; review safety records to uphold company policies to ensure a safe environment for all employees.
  • Develop maintenance personal encouraging a team environment.
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained to comply with all environmental requirements.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a Preventative Maintenance and Part Inventory program.
  • Evaluate equipment and determine what repairs are needed to improve machine uptime.
  • Track, monitor and audit maintenance Key Performance Indicators
  • Filing purchase orders for procurement of spare and replacement parts
  • Recruiting maintenance staff and evaluating their performance

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a sand iron foundry
  • A high school diploma is required (some college and/or additional training / certificates preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate team members.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment blueprints.
  • Understand the workings and functionality of PLC controls (ability to program a plus but not required)
  • Ability to spend majority of the day on the floor walking/standing.
  • Available to work weekends to support production, work on projects or PMs.

Other preferences:

  • Experience in working with a multitude of contractors for various projects and tracking project timelines.
  • Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance programs to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
  • Understanding of lean principles including Poke Yoke, Kaizen, and root cause analysis
