Job Brief

We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper/Accountant to be part of our Accounting Support team who performs a variety of essential accounting services to our CPA firm’s clients. This position reports directly to our Operations Manager and works closely with other staff & accountants within Rikard & Neal CPAs.

The variety of client services that our Accounting Team (which includes our Accounting Bookkeeper) provides include:

o Outsourced Accounting Services – perform client accounting throughout the month

  • R&N is in charge of the client’s accounting, handles significant portion of transactional processing & reconciliations (i.e. PR, AP, AR, general ledger, etc.)
  • R&N prepares financial statements and in some cases prepares certain compliance filings such as S&U Tax filings, Liquor Tax Filings, 941s, etc.

o Bookkeeping Services (write-up “after the fact”/after the month)

  • Client provides package of transactions such as bank activity including checks/disbursements and R&N records the information, records and/or files payroll related activity, reconciles certain accounts (such as bank accounts, credit card accounts, etc.), records journal entries and prepares various compliance filings (such as S&U Tax filings, Liquor Tax filings, 941s, etc)

o Hybrid Services

  • Client handles majority of transactional processing (revenue processing, disbursements, PR, etc.) while R&N performs certain accounting reconciliations (such as bank accounts), records journal entries and prepares certain compliance filings (such as S&U Tax filings, Liquor Tax filings, 941s, etc.)

o Other Accounting Services - Compliance

  • Workers Comp Audits
  • Business Tax filings
  • Property Tax filings
  • Annual contract license renewals
  • Annual filings for 1099s and W2s

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Documenting financial transaction details and monitoring the transactions

• Processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll (including payroll filings)

• Fact-checking accounting data

• Recording of debits and credits for banking activity, credit cards, and other regular accounting activity

• Sync of banks, accounts payable, payroll systems into client general ledgers

• Reconciling company accounts including bank accounts, credit cards, etc.

• Maintain an accurate, complete & consistent records of financial transactions

• Update and maintain the general ledger

• Maintain the trial balance by a reconciliation of accounts (i.e. lay the groundwork for accountants to either use data for tax preparation or use data for creating financial statements)

• Use knowledge of local laws to comply with reporting requirements

 

Accounting Bookkeeper Skills and Qualifications

• Basic accounting knowledge

• High attention to detail, accuracy and consistency

• Excellent data entry skills

• The ability to meet deadlines and prioritize projects

• The ability to communicate complex data in a clear way

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Customer service skills

  • This position is often our Firm’s contact person with clients)
  • Embrace the importance that client is buying CPA services for their accounting needs

• Payable and Payroll accounting skills with knowledge of applications such as ADP

• Be receptive to internal review of work prior to submission to clients or regulatory organizations

• Strong knowledge of Excel, QuickBooks, Sage, or other accounting applications
