Reports To: GM/COO

Forest Lake Club, having recently celebrated its Centennial Anniversary, is seeking an enthused and energetic individual to continue to build on the work with our newly created HR Department over the past year. The club, and its 150 employees (180 in height of summer season), is spread across our 140-acre campus across all disciplines of employees between: Golf Course Maintenance, Golf Course Professional Staff, Tennis Operations, Accounting & Administration, Food and Beverage & Facilities Maintenance teams. With our diverse employee base, we are seeking a unique individual that can adapt to all different types of individuals to continue to help build systems to grow and retain our employee base.


Job Description:

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Manages the club’s personnel program, assisting in the development and implementation of applicable policies & procedures.


Directly Supervises:

This role does not have any direct reports. You will be expected to collaborate on a regular basis with the club’s controller & staff accountant on a regular basis.


Job Tasks/Duties:

  • Responsible for all day-to-day payroll operations
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and related reports
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations for all benefit plans
  • Advises line managers about discipline, discharge, and related employment matters
  • Assists department heads in planning professional development and training programs for employees
  • Develops and administers the employee recognition and retention program
  • Responsible for the timely transfer of 401k Plan contributions and employer match to plan administrator
  • Conduct year-end payroll processing including W-2’s, and related required filings, reconcile reports with payroll records W2 reconciliation
  • Prepare year end reports and schedules for the auditors
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, and collaborates with departmental directors to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Personnel management, Public Administration or Organizational Development.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office package software
  • 2-3 years of relevant Human Resource related experienced
  • Experience in hospitality-based businesses preferred
  • IT & software knowledge, with a preference in ADP payroll software
