About the Project:

We are preparing for a future 5-year project with the State Government of Virginia, and we are seeking skilled Network Engineers to join our team. This project, anticipated to start soon, will require individuals with strong expertise in network design, deployment, and management across various environments. Valid work authorization to work in the USA is required.

Job Summary:

The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining functional networks within an enterprise infrastructure. This includes LAN, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, WAN, MAN, and SDN. The role involves configuring and installing physical and virtual software, servers, routers, firewalls, and other network devices. The Network Engineer will monitor network performance, provide Tier 3 support for complex issues, and automate tasks to enhance network efficiency and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Deployment:

    • Design and deploy robust networks including LAN, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, WAN, MAN, and SDN.
    • Implement enterprise-level wired and wireless network architectures leveraging MPLS, VLAN, VRFs, and VxLAN.
  • Configuration and Installation:

    • Configure and install both physical and virtual software, servers, routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
    • Ensure all network components are optimized for peak performance.
  • Performance Monitoring and Integrity:

    • Monitor network performance and maintain network integrity.
    • Use advanced network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk) to track and improve network health.
  • Tier 3 Support and Troubleshooting:

    • Provide Tier 3 support by resolving complex issues escalated from lower support tiers.
    • Troubleshoot both cloud and local infrastructure issues to maintain network stability.
  • Automation and Task Monitoring:

    • Automate network tasks and monitor their effectiveness to enhance network efficiency.
    • Use coding languages like Python and Perl to script and automate repetitive network management tasks.
  • Security and Access Control:

    • Implement and manage access control models and network security protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with best practices for network security across all deployed networks.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Certifications: Preferred certifications include CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, or equivalent.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong background in network administration and architecture within wired and wireless enterprise infrastructures.
    • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (especially TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
    • Familiarity with network operating systems like JUNOS and Cisco IOS.
  • Tools and Software:
    • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools such as SolarWinds and Splunk.
    • Ability to configure and manage network devices, including routers, firewalls, and switches.
  • Skills:
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in coding languages like Python and Perl for scripting.
    • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Other: Sharp analytical abilities and the capacity to design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable network solutions.
