School Custodian

As we embark on the inaugural year of our new, state-of-the-art middle school facility, we have a rewarding opportunity for a School Custodian. Under the immediate supervision of the Head Custodian and the overall direction of the Facility Services Director or his or her designee, the Custodian ensures the completion of all cleaning tasks in the assigned area, meeting school standards for quality and quantity, and completes all other set ups and take downs as assigned. Hours are 11:00am-7:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
• Setup, cleaning and take down of lunchroom
• Check assignment sheet for setups and takedowns for the shift and check with supervisor for any special assignments.
• Perform all indoor and outdoor set ups and take downs as assigned and according to schedule, such as setting up and/or taking down tables and chairs for meetings, sporting events, etc.
• Clean all assigned areas according to departmental procedures, to include some or all of the following activities, but not limited to dry and wet mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors; cleaning vents, stocking paper towels, toilet paper and soap; cleaning glass, vacuuming, cleaning tile, cleaning showers, locker rooms, and lockers; removing graffiti, emptying trash and replacing trash bags; removing gum, emptying pencil sharpeners, interior and exterior window cleaning, strip and re-wax floors, burnish and polish floors, deep clean carpeting according to department procedures. Clean light fixtures.
•Move trash to dumpsters as needed. Restock cleaning cart as required.
•Report observed problems or defects, such as broken equipment, stopped up toilets, etc., to the supervisor for resolution.
•Knowledge and ability to operate security and fire alarm systems
•Check exterior and classroom doors and windows to ensure they are closed and locked. Ensure lights are turned off.
•Complete special projects as assigned.
•Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
•Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
