Job DescriptionJob Description

Major Function:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor’s main responsibilities are to directly verify AMS plants' conformance to quality and regulatory standards, provide support and guidance (written or verbal) to management, staff, and customers, and train staff as needed.

Major Duties:

Quality Management Functions:

·       Ensure the quality control procedures are implemented during every step of the production process and finished goods

·       Maintain and validate quality documentation

·       Assist in addressing quality issues and report quality findings and issues to superiors whenever necessary

·       Respond to client complaints related to product quality by conducting root cause analyses and taking necessary corrective actions promptly

·       Plan, conduct, address and report findings on internal quality audits

·       Compile quality information needed for management review and on a planned, regular basis

·       Take appropriate corrective actions on identified problems concerning audits, production and documentation

·       Identify potential sources of error and suggest ways to eliminate them

·       Establish and execute the Inspection and Test Plan

·       Ensure the availability of required tools, including calibrated measuring equipment

Food Safety Management Functions:

· Establish and manage the food safety management system and procedure - this includes developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and programs to meet quality control.

· Work with a third party to certify the organization for quality control and other applicable standards.

· Train AMS personnel on quality and quality control and related programs and maintain training documentation Supplier Related Functions:

· Verify raw material and product specifications provided by clients have been correctly understood and transferred to internal documents

· Review documentation submitted by suppliers

· Support the supplier performance improvement process

Additional Functions:

·       Provide timely professional interaction with plant management personnel to help resolve production issues related to quality

·       Perform trend data analyses of test results

·       Support the development of new products

·       Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly Quality System reviews and documents

·       Establish department budget, work schedules, and future project planning

·       Participation in department reviews with human resources

·       Supervise Quality Technicians in QC functions

·       Other similar tasks as required by management

Physical Requirements:

· Carry up to 50 lbs.

Additional Requirements:

· Access to customers and AMS production (all shifts) by phone, email and text

· Audit experience, both internal and external

· Familiarity with ISO & FSSC-related processes

· Regulatory and Safety Experience is a plus

· Ability to learn Chempax operating system

· Must demonstrate good attention to detail and thoroughness

· Must be able to read, understand, and communicate complex technical information for projects and training

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

· Must pass background check and pre-employment drug test

· Familiar with company concepts, practices and procedures

· Must be able to perform a variety of tasks utilizing individual initiative

· Ability to work well with others

· Leadership qualities such as, initiative, self-confidence, assertiveness, decisiveness, and diplomacy

· Follow all company policies, including food safety

 

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor of Science or Arts in Chemistry, Biology, or related field required

· HACCP certification required or must obtain within 3 months of hire

· Previous experience with the Food Safety Management System is highly desirable.

Alternates: In case of absence,

·       Quality responsibilities are covered by the Quality /Regulatory Manager, R&D

·       FSMS responsibilities are covered by the Quality Manager.
