Job Overview

Primary Role:

The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing processes adhere to quality and regulatory standards. This role involves providing essential support and direction to management, staff, and clients, as well as conducting training sessions for personnel as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control Activities:

  • Implement quality control protocols throughout the production cycle and for finished products.
  • Maintain and verify quality documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Address quality concerns and communicate findings to management as necessary.
  • Investigate client complaints regarding product quality, performing root cause analysis and initiating corrective measures swiftly.
  • Plan and execute internal quality audits, reporting findings accordingly.
  • Compile quality data for management reviews on a regular schedule.
  • Take corrective actions based on audit findings, production issues, and documentation discrepancies.
  • Identify potential errors and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
  • Establish and implement the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Ensure availability of necessary tools, including calibrated measuring devices.

Food Safety Oversight:

  • Develop and manage the food safety management system, including policies and programs that meet quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with third-party organizations to achieve certification for quality control and related standards.
  • Train personnel on quality control practices and maintain comprehensive training records.

Supplier Management:

  • Verify that raw material and product specifications from clients are accurately understood and documented.
  • Review supplier documentation for compliance.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving supplier performance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Engage with plant management to resolve production-related quality issues.
  • Analyze trends in test results to inform quality improvements.
  • Assist in the development of new products.
  • Maintain documentation for daily, weekly, and monthly quality system reviews.
  • Establish departmental budgets, work schedules, and future project plans.
  • Participate in departmental reviews with human resources.
  • Supervise Quality Technicians in their quality control duties.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Accessibility to clients and production staff via various communication methods.
  • Experience with internal and external audits.
  • Familiarity with ISO and FSSC processes is advantageous.
  • Regulatory and safety experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to learn the Chempax operating system.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Capability to read, comprehend, and convey complex technical information.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug tests.
  • Understanding of company practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform various tasks independently.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including initiative and decisiveness.
  • Adherence to all company policies, particularly regarding food safety.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is required.
  • HACCP certification is required or must be obtained within three months of employment.
  • Previous experience with Food Safety Management Systems is highly desirable.
