Position Summary: Provide oversight assistance to the program director, assistance employment staff with direct supervision and career development as staff progresses in the career under the DOHMH/ACE programs. provide job development and support to employment staff to identify individualized employment opportunities for ACE participants in their representatives boroughs. providing direct supervision review and revision of all program documents prior to submissions and providing direct support to each of the ACE programs IN MEETING DOHMH/ACE compliance guidance as well as conducting community outreach to increase the referral sources for ACE services.

Responsibilities for Employment Specialist

  • Match job openings to job candidates
  • Monitor job retention rate
  • Work with employers to understand their needs
  • Work with candidates to understand their skill set
  • Administer skill tests to candidates
  • Conduct mock interviews
  • Revise resumes to help the candidate find a job
  • Recommend training to job candidates
  • Conduct community outreach in Brooklyn and Queens
  • Meet weekly with supervisor to discuss any concerns and brainstorm suggestions for resolutions

Job Qualifications

Minimum of Associates Degree ,varied and successful work history in competitive employment settings, Knowledge of employer expectations of employee performance workplace behaviors. Knowledge of ACE requirements if possible. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in providing vocational services to persons who have disabling conditions or other barriers to employment; NYS Driver’s License is required.
