Y&L Landscaping and Tree Service is looking for an experienced Business Developer capable of generating leads and closing deals. The ideal candidate will nurture client relationships, driving long-term profitability. Experience in landscaping management is a big plus. At Y&L, Business Developers have the freedom to grow their books of business and control their earning destiny working with clients throughout Baltimore County and surrounds. This job offers a base plus commission, so your income potential is determined by you. 

 

Position Summary for the Business Developer: 

The Business Developer is responsible for the development and generation of new business opportunities in the landscaping and tree service industry. Activities will include prospecting, leading sales opportunities, use of social media, and other activities as required. The Business Developer reports directly to the Operations and Management Team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop sales plan with owner for each assigned county 
  • Proactively canvas markets to seek out new business opportunities 
  • Exercise creativity and independent judgment in developing and evaluating sales and marketing strategies in selling a broad portfolio of services within a defined market 
  • Drive sales process from initial contact through strategy, proposal, presentation and successful conclusion of new business opportunities 
  • Meet and exceed established new sales goals 
  • Ability and willingness to travel for meetings with prospective and existing clients 
  • Develop and maintain client relationships 
  • Coordinate with sales team to develop mutually beneficial proposals
  • Negotiate contract terms with clients; submit contracts 
  • Gather useful information from customer and competitor data 
  • Track, identify and add qualified prospects to sales pipeline 
  • Track and report on the status of proposal components 
  • Drive the end-to-end sales process

 

Education and Experience Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior sales experience within a relevant industry
  • Experience selling in property/facility; management is preferred but not required 
  • Experience in understanding client operations and developing cost-effective solutions 

 

Skills and Abilities Qualifications: 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with competency in business writing 
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
  • High level of networking and interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience in successfully building relationships and influencing key decision makers
  • Demonstrated ability in business-to-business sales 
  • High level of professionalism, responsibility and accountability with the ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Competitive drive and determination to deliver results
  • Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
