Chief Operations Officer

The Chief Operations Officer is a member of the senior management team. This person maintains clinic operations and ensures all areas of operations are covered daily. Chief Operations Officer assists Medical Director and Executive Director with the development and implementation of special services and public relations. This individual is responsible for the health center’s risk management program and oversight of the IT Department’s daily upkeep and maintenance of all computers and networks throughout the organization as well aas maintenance. This individual is also involved in systems planning and design and serves as back-up personnel for infection control.
1. EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Health related field, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Human Resources, or Computer Science.
2. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum ten (10) years experience in health care field. At least five (5) years experience in combined health care computer systems implementation and design, Knowledge of Electronic Health Record Systems applications, Accounting and Practice Management Applications, and Hardware Networks, supervisory experience and general office duties. Must have experience with Joint Commission (JC) process, HIPAA regulations, requirements, and compliances and Uniform Data Systems Reporting. Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers preferred. Must have a basic knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, and carpentry. Supervisory experience is mandatory.
3. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently as well as
schedule and produce work in a timely manner. Knowledge and ability to effectively
utilize personal computers and various software packages. Must be able to assist and follow budget development.
4. SKILLS & ABILITIES: Strong skills in reasoning, executing sound judgment, high aptitude in Math, logistics, software applications and computer language, effective oral and written communicator.
