We have a great client that is looking for a Controls Manager in the surrounding Southfield, MI area
A dynamic company is seeking a seasoned Controls Manager to spearhead the development and implementation of cutting-edge control systems. The Controls Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive vehicle innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and oversee the complete vehicle control systems, encompassing network strategy, wiring, electrical modules, diagnostics, and software.
- Forge and execute engineering strategies and procedures aligned with company objectives.
- Identify, cultivate, and lead new projects and initiatives to advance technology.
- Optimize the utilization of engineering resources to meet product development and customer demands.
- Steer the Vehicle Controls Software team in developing energy storage solutions.
- Design, develop, and refine vehicle controls software with a strong emphasis on integration, tuning, and energy efficiency.
- Define, implement, and validate comprehensive on-vehicle communication protocols.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues throughout the development and production lifecycle.
- Foster a high-performing controls team by attracting top talent and implementing best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics or Computer Software Engineering.
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in vehicle controls system development, electrical component design, validation, and launch.
- 10+ years of automotive electrical engineering experience preferred.
- Proven expertise in low and high voltage systems.
- Proficiency in low and high voltage components, including circuit breakers, relays, wiring, DCDC converters, motors, inverters, batteries, and on-board chargers.
- In-depth knowledge of open and closed-loop control systems, sensors, actuators, ECUs, and related components.
- Mastery of CAN-Bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Demonstrated success in technical automotive engineering roles.
- Proficiency in DFMEA, Six Sigma, lean engineering, and other problem-solving methodologies.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Business acumen and financial management experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of automotive electrical systems.
- Expertise in ISO 26262 and ASPICE processes.
- Ability to architect innovative electrical system solutions.
