General Summary

Radiation therapy manager serves as a supervisor of the radiation therapists and provides direction and support for all aspects of daily and technical therapy operations, as well as troubleshooting. The RTM facilitates the delivery of high quality preparation and administration of radiation treatments and imaging in collaboration with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nursing and support staff. The RTM provisions the development and implementation of technical programs, quality assurance, patient safety, regulatory compliance oversight, vendor relations, and technological assessment.


Job Overview

The RTM is responsible for the team of therapists who work in the assigned area and team operations, continuous process improvement, and ongoing development of and adherence to standards and protocols. The RTM is responsible for the recruitment, selection, evaluation, scheduling and training of personnel.

  • The manager of radiation therapy is responsible for the daily operations and activities of the radiation therapy department.
  • Schedule: this position will be working full time, 80 hours per week
  • Utilizes a value based method when recruiting, interviewing, and selecting qualified employees. Collaborates with talent acquisition when recruiting.
  • Participates in formal retention and recognition activities. Develops and implements department specific orientation/education/competency programs.
  • Conducts monthly unit meetings and identifies ongoing communication methods to keep the employees informed regarding the organizational strategic plans.
  • Communicates clear, concise expectations and demonstrates accountability for employee performance by coaching, mentoring, and initiating disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates just culture concepts to promote a safe positive working environment.
  • Ensures unit activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirement and organizational policies. Establishes and maintains current policies and procedures for the department in collaboration with the service line director.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements to assure organizational compliance.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement activities by demonstrating knowledge of organizational and departmental quality measures.
  • Instituting actions to reach desired benchmarks, understanding the financial rewards or penalties associated with the outcomes

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
